Dutch oilfield services firm SBM Offshore announced Monday that its Cidade de Ilhabela FPSO (floating storage, production and offloading) facility is formally on hire after achieving first oil and completing a 72-hour continuous production test offshore Brazil.

The FPSO will operate under a 20-year charter and operate with Petrobras on the Sapinhoá field development in the Brazilian pre-salt layer.

The Cidade de Ilhabela facility is owned and operated by a joint venture formed by SBM Offshore (62.25 percent) and its partners.
