India's state-owned Oil and Natural Gas Corp. Ltd. (ONGC) appointed Pasala Krishna Rao as director (Operations) of its upstream subsidiary ONGC Videsh Ltd. (OVL), the company announced in a Nov. 2 press release.
Rao will take charge of development and production operations at OVL's 35 overseas assets in 16 countries. His responsibility includes project management, technical management of field services, overseeing of production sharing contracts (PSCs), joint operating agreements, marketing and risk management. Rao's other job scope covers human resource, legal, information technology and security functions.
"At a time when ONGC Videsh is poised to grow at a significant rate to achieve the stiff Perspective Plan 2030 targets, Mr Rao will play a pivotal role in increasing production from existing Assets, manpower development and strengthening of support functions," ONGC said.
Prior to his new appointment, Rao, 55, has experience in production, drilling and human resource management. He spent a large part of his career in Assam and has more than two decades in field operations in the onshore Rajahmundry asset. He also has experience working in Krishna Godavari Offshore (Shallow and Deep Offshore Field of Eastern Offshore).
Rao, who has a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) and Master of Engineering (Mechanical) from A.U college of Engineering, Vishakhapatnam and Master of Business Adminstration (Marketing) from IGNOU, joined ONGC as an Assistant Executive Engineer (Graduate Trainee) in 1982.
