Lundin Abandons Gobi-1 Exploration Well in Natuna Sea as a Dry Hole

Lundin Petroleum AB (Lundin Petroleum) reported Monday that the exploration drilling of the Gobi prospect in the Gurita PSC, Natuna Sea, Indonesia has been completed.

Gobi-1 wildcat exploration well was drilled to a final depth of 7,785 feet (2,373 meters) below mean sea level (MSL) using the jackup Hakuryu-11 (425' ILC). The well was drilled through the Miocene to Oligocene primary and secondary objectives and reached basement as planned. Gobi-1 encountered well developed sandstone reservoir, but no hydrocarbon shows were encountered and the well is being plugged and abandoned as a dry hole.

Lundin Petroleum, through its wholly owned subsidiary Lundin Gurita BV, is the operator and has a 90 percent working interest in the Gurita PSC. Nido Petroleum Limited is a partner with 10 percent working interest.
