Petronas Carigali Extends Drilling Contract for Maersk Convincer for $56M

Maersk Drilling reported Monday that Petronas Carigali, the Exploration and Production subsidiary of the national oil company in Malaysia, has extended the contract for the jackup Maersk Convincer (375' ILC) by one year. Consequently, the rig will be on contract with Petronas until mid-November 2015. The estimated revenue potential from the one-year contract extension is $56 million.

“We are very pleased to continue working with Petronas Carigali and see this extension as a further strengthening of our relationship. Together with Petronas Carigali, our highly competent rig crewhas delivered several challenging wells in a safe and efficient way,” says Claus V. Hemmingsen, CEO of Maersk Drilling and member of the Executive Board of the Maersk Group.

Maersk Convincer is one of two Baker Marine 375 feet jackups in Maersk Drilling’s fleet. The rig has been working in Southeast Asia since its delivery from Jurong Shipyard in 2008 and with Petronas Carigali since 2011.
