French oilfield services firm Technip reported Tuesday that it has won a "substantial" EPIC (engineering, procurement, installation and construction) contract from BP Trinidad and Tobago for the development of the Juniper project.
The Juniper project, located off the southeast coast of Trinidad, involves five subsea wells that are expected to produce roughly 590 million cubic feet of gas per day from more than one trillion cubic feet of reserves.
Technip said the scope of its work will consist of design, detailed engineering, procurement, construction, load out and mechanical completion of 4,300-ton topsides and a 6,100-ton jacket.
The contract will also cover the design, fabrication and supply of: five 10-inch and eight-inch (internal diameter) flexible flowlines; a 26-inch, 6.1-mile concrete-coated rigid subsea pipeline; an extensive diving campaign to support the client's LNG train and field turnaround; and a large number of subsea structures and tie-in spools.
Technip's operating center in Houston, Texas will perform the overall design, detailed engineering and project management. Offshore installation is scheduled for the second half of 2016. Platform fabrication will be performed in Trinidad using a local fabricator.
The flexible pipes will be manufactured at Technip's Flexi France facility in Le Trait, France. Technip's S-Lay pipelay vessel, the G-1200, will install the rigid pipelines. Additional vessels from Technip's fleet will install the flexibles as well as umbilicals, and provide construction work support.
Technip North America President Deanna Goodwin commented in a company statement:
"This award reinforces Technip's leading position in the offshore and subsea EPIC market of North America region. Leveraging Technip's unique combination of complementary assets, technologies and capabilities, this project offers comprehensive platform and subsea design as well as detailed engineering solutions."
