Siemens PLM Software eyes business growth in Asia Pacific, with the firm offering its software solutions to shipyards in the region.
Siemens PLM Software (SPLM), a business unit of German engineering giant Siemens AG’s Industry Automation Division, offers software solutions to Asia Pacific shipyards as the company looks east in its search for business opportunities.
The Plano, Texas-based company is a major provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) software, systems and services, with nine million licensed seats and 77,000 customers worldwide.

The software gives users unified information throughout the enterprise by providing a single source of complex information. Customers have interlocked product design and development using an open PLM platform to realize benefits such as:
Rajiv Ghatikar, vice president and general manager at Siemens PLM Software’s for ASEAN/Australasia (AUSEAN) and Dennis Peters, senior director for Energy & Utilities, Siemens PLM Software were in Singapore in July to meet shipyard executives for a discussion on the local offshore and marine industry, including the sector’s growth and future, evolving challenges, innovative solutions and implementation of best practices.
Rigzone caught up with Ghatikar and Peters for an interview in which both SPLM executives provided their perspectives on the offshore and marine industry in Singapore and Asia Pacific.
