Semisub Barge POSH Mogami Sinks Off Indonesia's Batam Island, 3 Dead
The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) reported Sunday that it received a report that a Singapore-registered semisubmersible barge POSH Mogami - a vessel owned by Singapore's offshore marine services provider PACC Offshore Services Holdings Ltd. Nine persons were on board the barge when the incident happened. POSH Mogami, a 30,500 dead weight ton (dwt) ABS-classed vessel, was carrying out submerging trials at the time of the incident.
The Indonesian authorities have since rescued 6 persons (2 Singaporeans, 1 Malaysian, 1 Dutch, 1 Filipino, 1 Indonesian) and recovered 3 bodies (1 Singaporean, 1 Chinese, 1 Myanmar national).
"As the Flag Administration of POSH Mogami, MPA is investigating the cause of the incident with the relevant authorities," the Singapore government agency said in a press release.
