Oil & Gas UK launched its eighth annual awards competition Monday, opening nominations to employees and firms that operate in the UK's oil and gas sector.
The organization's awards for individuals who work in oil and gas have been revised in order to simplify each category, it said. These are Mentor of the Year, Apprentice of the Year and Graduate of the Year.
Meanwhile, the two company awards – the Award for Investment in People and the Award for Business Innovation – have been split into two categories: one for large firms and one for smaller companies. The awards for smaller companies will be for firms that meet two out of three of the following criteria: having fewer than 250 employees, less than $44 million turnover and less than $21.3 million in assets.
Shell UK Limited Upstream Director Glen Cayley commented in a statement:
"We are delighted to be supporting these prestigious awards again in 2014. Recognizing and rewarding excellence is of great importance to Shell and our industry as a whole. These awards provide an opportunity to celebrate the host of talent – from individual apprentices to entire business teams – which continues to develop in this diverse, exciting industry of ours.
The awards ceremony will take place at Aberdeen's Exhibition and Conference Centre on the evening of Thursday November 6.
