North Africa and Middle East-focused independent Gulfsands Petroleum announced Monday that Ian Conway has been appointed as an executive director of the firm.
Conway, whose title will be "Executive Director: Technical and Operations", is a petroleum engineer with more than 25 years' experience in the upstream oil and gas sector. He has worked for ExxonMobil, Maersk and BP both in the UK and internationally.
Conway joins the board having been with the company since 2009 in the role of Vice President: Petroleum Engineering.
Meanwhile, Gulfsands also announced that David Cowan, a non-executive director since 2006, has stepped down from his role.
Gulfsands Chief Executive Mahdi Sajjad commented in a company statement:
"We are enormously appreciative of all that David has done for the company over the past eight years. He has made a tremendous contribution. David's retirement from the board due to pressure of other business is entirely understandable but his presence on our board will be sorely and sincerely missed.
