Danish-based Viking Supply Ships reported Wednesday that the firm has entered into a contract with a major oil company for the charter of an anchor handling tug supply (AHTS) vessel "Tor Viking" in the Far East region.
Under the charter, Tor Viking will commence operations for the client in June 2014. The contract will be for a duration of 11 months firm, plus options to extend the contract for another two 6 months period subject to availability.
The contract value of the firm period is around $34.5 million.
"The contract strengthens the company's position within harsh environment operations," Viking said in a press release.
Tor Viking, an icebreaker AHTS built in 2000 by Havyard Leirvik AS in Norway, completed an assignment with EnQuest last month.
