Ghana JV to Build Workforce for Seabase Project

The Atuabo Free Port partners also envision a 2- to 3-year program to achieve sustainable skill development in the community, which will run concurrently with the construction of the port. Swift, with its expertise in staffing the oil and gas industry, is in a prime position to train and develop the skills necessary to make the port succeed.

In addition to the skills development program, the joint venture would engage a manpower services agency. For this service, a program to identify skills employs the appropriate resources, equipment and infrastructure to develop and run the facility.

One of the joint venture's cornerstones is the partnership that the port will form with local communities. The Atuabo Free Port Project will require more than 2,000 people, and this community partnership will continue long after the construction is complete. This joint venture is unique in the fact that its profits after cost recovery will be reinvested in training programs for the communities, which will allow Ghanaians to acquire the skills necessary for obtaining more technical positions.

This partnership has obtained the support of the British Government, and its concept can be developed further to cover both the national Ghana market and beyond. The model is designed so that it can be mirrored over and over again for different markets.
