Myanmar to Sign PSCs for Onshore Blocks Awarded in 2013 in Mid-May

Myanmar expects to sign production sharing contracts awarded under Myanmar's Onshore Blocks Second Bidding Round 2013 in mid-May, later that an earlier timeline planned for January, a ministry of energy official told Rigzone Thursday.

"We are working according to the procedures ... we will sign the production sharing contracts in the middle of May," Khin Khin Aye, director of the Energy Planning Department, Ministry of Energy in Myanmar said.

The Ministry of Energy awarded 16 of the 18 onshore blocks offered in the tender in mid-October 2013. Italy's Eni, India’s ONGC Videsh Ltd., Malaysia’s Petronas Carigali, Canada’s Pacific Energy Hunt Corp., Pakistan’s Petroleum Exploration (PVT) Ltd. and British Virgin Islands-registered MRPL E&P Pte Ltd. were each awarded 2 blocks.

The government also awarded one block each to Thailand's PTTEP, Brunei National Petroleum Co., Luxembourg's CAOG and Russia's JSOC Bashneft.

A total of 26 foreign companies bid for the onshore blocks, with 10 firms selected to sign the production sharing contracts.
