PNG 2D Seismic Survey Almost Complete

Papua New Guinea-focused junior explorer UMC Energy reported Friday that the Dong Fang Kan Tan No. 1 seismic acquisition vessel has recorded approximately 1,838 miles of 2D seismic over the company’s offshore PPL374 and PPL375 licenses.

UMC said that this represents almost 99-percent completion of the planned 2D survey, which is being operated by China’s CNOOC – which is also funding the entire cost of the survey.

UMC Energy Technical Director commented in a company statement:

"The 2D acquisition project continues to run to schedule and is expected to be completed over the weekend.  No safety or environmental incidents have been reported."
