Amerisur Spuds Fenix Block Well in Colombia

South America-focused junior explorer Amerisur Resources reported Tuesday that its Ave-1 exploration well on the Fenix Block, onshore Colombia, has spud.

Amerisur said the objective of the well is to evaluate the oil potential of the Mugrosa formation, which is located below reservoirs previously discovery in the Esmeraldas formation by the Isabel-1 well.

The well will be drilled directionally to a measured depth of 3,183 feet, with a maximum inclination of 44 degrees from the vertical, the firm said. Results from Ave-1 are expected within a month.
