Dry Well for Lundin near Edvard Grieg Field

Lundin Norway reported Friday that its 16/5-5 wildcat well on Norwegian production license 410 has turned out dry. The well's objective was to prove the southernmost extension of the Luno II discovery on PL410.

The well was drilled around 13 miles south of the Edvard Grieg field in the central part of the North Sea. Lundin said that extensive data acquisition and sampling were carried out in the well.

Lundin CEO Ashley Heppenstall commented in a company statement:

"It appears that this well has been drilled into a separate sub-basin with poor reservoir quality. These results should have no impact on the risk associated with the next appraisal well in Luno II central which if successful is likely to confirm Luno II as a commercial discovery."

The Bredford Dolphin (mid-water semisub) rig used to drill the well will now move on to drill the 16/3-8 delineation well on the Johan Sverdrup discovery in PL501.
