As the offshore rig market continues to evolve, Rigzone presents a 2013 roundup of offshore rig activity using RigLogix, Rigzone's premier data service.

Editor's Note: Fleet size numbers only include jackups, drillships and semisubmersibles and excludes rigs that have not yet been delivered. Fleet stats for Noble Drilling are prior to their proposed spin-off. Regional activity is based on number of rigs working in the region during the year and dayrate averages are based on contracts signed during 2013.

All stats are as of Dec. 15, 2013.

This is a great info graphic. I was particulaly taken by the difference in rig fleet ages. While new rigs dont always ensure better performane (i.e., operator expertise, skill and decision making still count for a lot), they can certainly make a difference.
