Max Reports Success Results from Uytas Field
Kazakhstan-focused Max Petroleum reported Wednesday that its UTS-15 appraisal well on the Uytas field has yielded positive results. The firm also reported that it has spud further appraisal wells on the Eskene North and Uytas fields.
The UTS-15 well reached a total depth of 656 feet, with electric logs indicating 13 feet of net oil pay in Cretaceous reservoirs over a 170-foot interval, Max reported. The firm added that reservoir quality is excellent and that it plans to complete the well and place it on test production as soon as practicable.
However, Max also reported that hydrocarbon shows were not encountered in the shallow Albian section.
Also at Uytas, Max has begun drilling the UTS-12 appraisal well, which will target Cretaceous and Jurassic reservoirs. After UTS-12 another six wells will be drilled as part of the initial appraisal program for the field.
The company has also begun drilling the ESKN-2 appraisal well on the Eskene North field, which will target Triassic reservoirs.
