Statoil's Troll Field to See Reduced Capacity until Next Summer

OSLO, Sept 5 (Reuters) – Ongoing technical problems at the giant Troll gas field in the Norwegian North Sea will reduce Statoil's capacity to produce gas there until next summer, a senior company executive said on Thursday.

The oil firm said in January it had a problem with the motor on a compressor at Troll, Norway's biggest gas field. A start-up on the compressor has been delayed several times and it has been unclear when it would restart.

"We have a reduced flexibility on Troll for the time being and it will take a long time to get back to full flexibility," Oeystein Michelsen, Statoil's head of development and production in Norway, told Reuters on the margins of an oil conference.

"It (the problem) will last until next summer," he said.
