ConocoPhillips Finds Gas at Lacewing Prospect

Premier Oil reported Tuesday that its partner ConocoPhillips has found gas at its 23/22b-6z exploration well targeting the Lacewing prospect on the eastern margins of the central area of the UK North Sea.

Premier said that a gas column of greater than 100 feet was encountered and the well achieved its pre-drill objectives by evaluating a Triassic interval containing reservoir-quality sands. The well is being plugged and abandoned as a hydrocarbon discovery.

The firm added that post-well evaluation is being carried out to ascertain whether the discovery is commercial.

The partners in block 23/22b include operator ConocoPhillips with 47.3 percent, Premier with 20.2 percent and BG Group with 32.5 percent.
