Pakistan Petroleum Discovers Gas-Condensate at Shahdad X-1
Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL), the operator of Block 2568-18 (Gambat South) EL, announced a gas and condensate discovery at the Shahdad X-1 exploration well in District Sanghar, Sindh, Pakistan.
Shahdad X-1 was spud March 30 and reached the final depth of 12,024 feet (3,665 meters) June 19. Based on wireline logs, potential hydrocarbon bearing zones were identified. Initial testing in the Massive Sand of Lower Goru Formation flowed 27.8 million standard cubic feet per day of gas along with 337 barrels per day condensate at 64/ 64 inch choke size, confirming the presence of commercial quantities of natural gas and condensate at Shahdad X-1.
"However, the final flow potential of the well will be determined after its completion," PPL said in a news release.
Shahdad X-1 is the second discovery in the block after the first well Wafiq X-1 also found gas and condensate.
PPL has 65 percent working interest in Block 2568-18, with joint venture partners Government Holdings (Private) Limited and Asia Resources Oil Limited holding 25 percent and 10 percent interest, respectively.
The latest discovery follows an earlier find in early July, when PPL announced that it has struck gas-condensate from a deep reservoir at Adam X-1 exploration well in Block 2568-13 in the Hala field in District Sanghar, Sindh.
