Tap Oil reports that the Gauguin-1 exploration well located in TL/1 offshore Australia south of the Harriet Alpha Platform has been plugged and abandoned after failing to intersect any hydrocarbons in the Flag Sands.

Tap says that the Gauguin-1 well was unsuccessful due to a lack of structural closure.

The Joint Venture will now focus on the early development of the Monet Oil Field discovered earlier this month. The details of the Monet Oil Field development are currently being considered. It is likely the Monet-2 development well will be drilled from the Simpson Alpha Platform in June/July this year when the drilling rig returns to the HJV. Bambra development wells are also being considered for drilling following the return of the rig.

Other prospects for drilling in the Harriet Area are being reviewed based on recently reprocessed seismic data. Some of these will be drilled in third quarter of this year.

Harriet Joint Venture participants are Apache as operator with 68.5%; Kufpec with 19.2771% and Tap Oil with the remaining 12.2229%.
