Canadian Superior Opens Halifax Office
Canadian Superior Energy Inc. of Calgary, Alberta announced the opening of a new regional office in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Company President, Greg Noval, stated, "We are pleased to announce the opening of our new Halifax office and the appointment of Mr. M.E. (Mike) Coolen, B.Sc., P.Eng. as our Director of East Coast Operations. Mike brings over 20 years operational and engineering experience with Exxon Mobil to Canadian Superior having extensive offshore managerial experience, including a secondment to Sable Offshore Energy Inc. ("SOEI") for the past 6-1/2 years, with extensive involvement and management of regulatory approvals, safety, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, start-up and operations of the SOEI onshore and offshore Nova Scotia facilities, including well construction and drilling activities.
"The Scotian Shelf represents one of the greatest opportunities in North America for oil and gas exploration and development and with the opening of our Halifax office, we are proceeding full-steam ahead with our drilling plans for later this year, subject to regulatory approval, on our 'Marquis Prospects' Offshore Nova Scotia," Noval said.
Canadian Superior recently completed the acquisition of 1,100 kilometwes of high-resolution seismic coverage over the Company's "Marquis Prospects" Offshore Nova Scotia to finalize drill-site locations on the Company's holdings. The Company's "Marquis" holdings are located approximately 20 kilometers (12.5 miles) northwest of Sable Island and are directly on trend and analogous to PanCanadian Petroleum Limited's recent Deep Panuke Abenaki Reef Natural Gas Discovery, approximately 25 kilometers (15.6 miles) to the southwest where several new wells have been recently tested with productive capacity each in excess of 50 MMCF/D.
