Max Spuds 2nd Appraisal Well on Uytas Field
Central Asia-focused Max Petroleum reported Monday that it has begun drilling the UTS-11 appraisal well in the Uytas field on Block A, Kazakhstan, using the Zhanros ZJ-20 rig.
Max said that the well is the second in a 13-well appraisal program at Uytas. It will be drilled to a depth of 1,475 feet and will target Cretaceous and Jurassic reservoirs in the central portion of the field, the firm added.
In June, Max drilled its first well on the Uytas field. This found insufficient hydrocarbons to be commercial and was plugged and abandoned.
