Lundin Commences Drilling at Brynhild Development Well

Lundin Petroleum reported Monday that it has spud the first development well on the Brynhild field on production license 148 in the Norwegian North Sea.

Brynhild is located next to the Norway-UK border, some 135 miles from the Norwegian mainland. The development of Brynhild involves the drilling of four development wells with a subsea tie-back to the Haewene Brim FPSO vessel, which is located at the Shell Pierce development in the UK sector of the North Sea.

The wells are being drilled using the Maersk Guardian (350' ILC) rig, with drilling operations expected to continue until the second quarter of next year. Estimated gross reserves at Brynhild are approximately 23 million barrels of oil equivalent, with gross peak production expected to be 12,000 boepd.

Lundin has a 90-percent working interest in Brynhild, while Talisman Energy Norge has a 10-percent interest.
