Riverstone Holdings LLC has hired former CEO of the Houston-based Anadarko Petroleum Corp., James T. Hackett, as a partner and will co-head its Houston office. Hackett stepped down as Anadarko's CEO last year in May and became the company's executive chairman.
Hackett previously held the CEO position since December 2003 and completely retired from the company June 4.
"Jim Hackett is among the most knowledgeable and experienced leaders in the global oil and gas industry today," said Co-Founders of Riverstone David M. Leuschen and Pierre F. Lapeyre, Jr. in a released statement.
"He helped lead the unconventional energy revolution in North America and has extensive expertise in building upstream companies both onshore and offshore as well as unique experience in global deepwater exploration."
"Riverstone is one of the most successful and respected private investment firms in the energy industry," Hackett added. "I look forward to working with its talented professionals, investors, and clients to fulfill the tremendous capital and management needs of the global energy business and to helping Riverstone continue to build upon its successful investment track record."
Prior to joining Anadarko, Hackett was Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Ocean Energy, and after that, President and Chief Operating Officer of Devon Energy Corp.
Hackett joined Cameron International Corp.'s board of directors in August 2012 and earlier this month became chair of Baylor College of Medicine's board of trustees.
Riverstone is an energy and private investment firm founded in 2000. The company conducts buyout and growth capital investments in the midstream, exploration and production oil field services, power and renewable sectors of the energy industry. Riverstone has offices in New York, London and Houston.
