Aurora Drills New Wells In Eagle Ford

Australia’s Aurora Oil & Gas Ltd. has commenced horizontal drilling on two new wells in the Eagle Ford Shale play. The Nabors F08 drilling rig commenced drilling on May 31, 2013.

The two horizontal wells will be positioned 330 feet apart within the reservoir and will be "zipper fracced" to improve hydraulic fracturing efficiency, said the operator.

Drilling was planned to commence in the third quarter but the company began operations ahead of schedule. The company also plans to begin drilling with a second rig this quarter.

The Australian company acquired assets in Karnes, Live Oak and Atascosa counties in South Texas, particularly 79,700 gross acres in the Eagle Ford area. Aurora participates in over 77,000 gross acres in the heart of the Eagle Ford Shale including 19,300 net acres within the liquids-rich zones of the trend.
