Kazakhstan Well Comes up Dry for Max

Central Asia-focused Max Petroleum reported Monday that its UTS-5 exploration well on the Uytas North prospect on Block A, Kazakhstan, failed to find commercial oil or gas.

Max said that the well was drilled to a total depth of 3,055 feet without encountering producible hydrocarbons and will now be plugged and abandoned.

Max added that the Zhanros ZJ-20 rig will next move to the Uytas field to drill the UTS-8 well.
