Takatuf, the human capital unit of Oman Oil company (OOC)and global oilfield services company Petrofac have agreed on a Memorandum of Understanding to create a joint venture for the establishment of an industry-leading technical training Centre of Excellence (COE). The COE will be the largest technical training centre in Oman and will initially focus on the development of the employees of OOC and its local subsidiaries. At a later stage, it will aim to provide services for the wider oil and gas industry in Oman. The COE will be designed and managed by Petrofac Training Service, the world's largest provider of technical training services to the oil and gas industry.
The Memorandum of Understanding was signed at a ceremony in Muscat by Ayman Asfari, the Group Chief Executive of Petrofac and Ahmed Al Wahaibi, the CEO of OOC.
Commenting on the announcement Ahmed Al Wahaibi, the CEO of OOC said, "We strongly believe that people are at the core of our success and it is our duty to invest in extensive technical training and human capital development today to ensure the availability of a sustainable pool of talent for OOC, our partners and our communities. We believe this joint venture will go a long way in helping us meet the human capacity requirements for the future and continue building on the success achieved thus far."
Ayman Asfari, Petrofac's Group Chief Executive added: "We are delighted that we are working with OOC and Takatuf to support their ambition of enhancing the Omani workforce capability in these industrial sectors. The creation of this Centre of Excellence will enable OOC to ensure the development of a highly-skilled resource pool to meet industry needs now and in the future."
