The Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA), which is the authority responsible for supervising safety, emergency preparedness and the working environment at the petroleum facilities, has initiated an investigation of the incidents.
On 16 April a construction worker was seriously injured after being struck by a steel beam at the Sn°hvit land facility on Melk°ya. The construction worker was working on the quay facility where the gas from Sn°hvit will be shipped out when the accident occurred. Statoil is the operator.
On 21 April a contracted worker at Kollsnes slipped on a scaffolding ladder and wound up hanging from one arm. The patient was sent to Haukeland Hospital where they found he had fractured his shoulder. Gassco is the operator.
A few hours later, at 4:00 p.m., yet another personal injury accident occurred at Kollsnes: A person standing on the ground and cleaning flanges got his foot stuck in scaffolding. The result was a probable fractured ankle.
