Lundin North Sea Well Comes Up Dry

change text size

Sweden's Lundin Petroleum reported Thursday that it is to plug and abandon its exploration well 8/5-1 on the Ogna prospect in the North Sea after it came up dry.

The well – located on on Block 8/5, production license 453S in the southern part of the Norwegian North Sea – reached its target depth of 7,675 feet but the primary, Jurassic-age reservoir was shown to be of poor quality and no hydrocarbons were encountered.

Lundin is the operator of PL435S with a 35-percent working interest. Its partners in the license are Noreco, Det Norske and VNG Norge.
