KCA Deutag to Drill Two Gas Wells in Germany for ExxonMobil

KCA DEUTAG, a subsidiary of Abbot Group plc, has been awarded a three-year framework agreement by EMPG (Exxon Mobil Production Germany) valued at up to US $36 million. The contract is for land drilling services on two deep gas wells located in Northern Germany near Bremen and Hamburg. The first of these is Kneheim, which spudded on February 16th. The next well will be Sage and the timing for the spudding of this well will be early June.

"This contract is a reflection of the success being enjoyed by the Land Division of KCA DEUTAG and our continuing interest in our local European markets," commented Clause Chur, Group Director, Land Division at KCA DEUTAG. "We have operated in Germany for more than 100 years, and although we have developed significant activities in a wide range of international markets, locations such as Germany continue to be an important components of KCA DEUTAG's operations."
