Buru Progresses Shale Exploration Project with Yulleroo 4 Well
Buru Energy disclosed Thursday that the onshore Yulleroo 4 well, which was spud Jan. 21, has been drilled to a current depth of 6,817 feet (2,078 meters).
The well, designed to target the Upper and Lower Laurel reservoirs, encountered hydrocarbon shows in the shale of the Anderson Formation that are consistent with those seen in the previous wells of the area.
Buru will continue drilling the well to an intermediate casing point of 8,629 feet (2,630 meters).
The proposed total depth of the well is 12,467 feet (3,800 meters); Buru is expecting to complete drilling and suspension works in Yulleroo 4 by March 18.
Yulleroo 4 is the first well in the Buru–Mitsubishi Corporation (MC) 2013 drilling program. The well is located in exploration permit EP 436, 50 miles (80 kilometers) to the east of Broome.
Buru and MC each have a 50 percent interest in Yulleroo 4 and in EP 436.
