Pertamina Hulu Energi Resumes Operations at West Madura Block

Indonesia's Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE) West Madura Offshore (WMO), the operator of the West Madura Production Sharing Contract (PSC), has resumed operations at the PSC sited offshore East Java, Pertamina's Director of Upstream Operations Muhamad Husen confirmed with Rigzone late Wednesday.
Husen was responding to Rigzone's query about local media reports which stated that heavy rain and high waves disrupted production at the block, and the conditions forced operator Pertamin Hulu Energi to temporarily cease operations.
"Now … WMO is in operation," Husen said Wednesday.
The Jarkarta Post reported on Tuesday that the bad weather affected drilling activities and the installation of new pipelines at the block and caused PHE to lose 3,000 barrels per day of crude oil following the temporary shutdown.
The company received reports from the state's weather agency explaining that the high waves were triggered by tropical cyclone Narelle, which passed by the coast of Western Australia, PHE's President Director Salis S. Aprilian told the daily Monday.
Aprilian said the same day that PHE could start activating its wells.
