The HRT Participações em Petroleo SA announced it has received the rig Transocean Marianas (DW semisub) offshore Ghana. The rig is in transit towards Namibia and is expected to reach in the next 3 weeks undergoing a mandatory maintenance before starting HRT's exploratory campaign in the Walvis and Orange basins.
The Marianas rig will drill the Walvis-based Wingat prospect - the first well in the Namibia campaign. Drilling operations are expected to last approximately 60 days.
"The arrival of the rig Transocean Marianas is excellent news for HRT and GALP ... [we plan] to start one of the most anticipated and important campaigns in the southern area offshore West Africa," commented CEO Marcio Mello in a statement.
