Petrofac: 60-80 People Needed to Deliver New Algerian Contract

Oil and gas service provider Petrofac announced Tuesday that up to 80 personnel will be required to support a "substantial" services contract it has signed in Algeria. The contract is with two joint ventures – In Salah Gas and In Amenas – that involve BP, Statoil and Sonatrach.

The three-year contract will see Petrofac's Engineering & Consulting Services business provide a range of consultancy, design and procurement services. These activities will support the joint ventures' development program to augment hydrocarbon production on both the In Salah dry gas project and the In Amenas wet gas project, said the company.

Petrofac said that it anticipates between 60 and 80 personnel will be needed to support the contract throughout the initial three-year period, with a significant portion of services delivered under the contract being delivered out of the company's local engineering center in Algiers. The contract also has the potential to be extended further with two additional one-year options.

Petrofac ECS Managing Director Craig Muir commented in a company statement:
