Sound Completes Full Production Test at Rapagnano Field

change text size

Italy-focused Sound Oil reported Tuesday that it has completed a full production test of the Sabbie reservoir at its Rapagnano field in northern Italy.

A day earlier Sound announced that it had initially tested a stabilized rate of 500,000 standard cubic feet of gas per day from the Rapagnano-1 well on the field.

The Sabbie reservoir was tested for two three-hour drawdown periods, with the first period establishing a commercial stabilized rate of 340,000 standard cubic feet of gas per day with a flowing well head pressure of 1,148 psi (pounds per square inch) on a 1/8-inch choke. The second period, on a 3/16-inch choke, confirmed an increased stabilized rate of 480,000 standard cubic feet of gas per day with a flowing well head pressure of 645 psi.

The well is now shut in for a final build up period of 12 hours prior to retrieval of down-hole pressure gauges.

Sound said that all the flow rate and pressure data obtained has been consistent with its model for production of 1.3 billion cubic feet of gas from the field.

Sound CEO James Parsons commented in a statement:

"I am pleased with the successful production test, which confirms our view that Sound Oil will be a gas producer very shortly. The company will now focus on preparations for the forthcoming Nervesa appraisal well."

First commercial production from the Rapagnano field is expected at the end of January.
