A worker was fatally wounded while carrying out maintenance work on the installation vessel, Sea Jack, at the Keppel Verolme shipyard in Rotterdam last week.
In a statement released Dec. 20, the service provider A2SEA described the incident as a "serious accident".
"We are deeply sorry to have to inform that an employee of our supplier has lost his life. Further information is pending the investigation of the circumstances surrounding the accident," A2SEA's CEO Jens Frederik Hansan said in a statement.
Company representatives from A2SEA were not available for comment at the time of publication.
A backup team and a crisis psychologist have been sent onto the Sea Jack in order to support the remaining crew onboard.
Keppel Verolme is part of the Singapore-based Keppel Offshore & Marine group.
