Top North American Workplaces Set to Hire

The need for top talent doesn't stop during a downturn - it increases. Proven skills and education become top priority and with talent, higher pay follows. Whether you are looking to make a career change, advance in your career, or would like to enter the business, the oil and gas industry offers something for everyone. The industry supports jobs in exploring, producing, refining, transporting and marketing oil and natural gas, along with the purchases it makes of other goods and services that support the industry's operations, according to the American Petroleum Institute (API). Equipment supplies, construction companies, management specialists, and food service businesses are all strongly linked to the industry.

Specifically, 9.2 million American jobs support the sector, adding more than $1 trillion to the national economy. As the economy makes an upturn, the need for skilled and educated employees will continue to be in high demand. Jobs requiring a master's degree are expected to grow the fastest, while those requiring a high school diploma will experience the slowest growth over the 2010-2020 timeframe, according to the United States Department of Labor.

Recently, the Houston Chronicle conducted their annual ranking of the city's top workplaces for 2012 listing 150 notable companies due to their advancement opportunities, value of pay and benefits, and communication and management skills from the bosses.
