Jumbo Signs FPSO Contract with EnQuest
Dutch offshore installation specialist Jumbo Maritime announced Wednesday that it has been awarded an FPSO (floating production, storage and offloading) vessel mooring, installation and hook-up contract by North Sea-focused oil firm EnQuest. The firm said that it will be the first offshore project in which it acts as the main contactor instead of being the subcontractor.
The contract will see Jumbo support EnQuest in its plan to redevelop the Alma and Galia fields in North Sea Blocks 30/24, 30/25 and 30.29, which are located around 200 miles southeast of Aberdeen.
The fields will be brought on stream in 2013 using the FPSO vessel EnQuest Producer, which is currently undergoing refurbishment in Hamburg, Germany.
Jumbo said that its heavy lift vessl Fairplayer will install the mooring spread for the EnQuest Producer in the middle of 2013. The vessel will use onboard 900-ton mast cranes to take all equipment on board before transiting to site and installing this equipment in one go, while employing a Dynamic Positioning 2 system.
Jumbo Director for Offshore & Operations Patrick van Eerten commented in a company statement:
"We have the required skills and knowledge to complete this project successfully. We appreciate the confidence shown by EnQuest in awarding us this contract, giving Jumbo the opportunity to become main contractor for the first time."
