Shell Awards Bukom Pipeline Replacement Contract to Leighton- Boskalis JV
Leighton Offshore and Boskalis Offshore announced Tuesday that the joint venture has been awarded a transportation, installation and dredging contract by Shell Eastern Petroleum on its single point mooring (SPM) pipeline replacement project, offshore Singapore.
The contract – handed out as part of Shell’s planned maintenance schedule – will see the JV replace part of the SPM four-foot (48-inch) subsea pipeline near Bukom island.
The scope of work includes cleaning of the SPM buoy, pipeline end manifold and hoses and pipeline. In addition to cleaning works, the JV will also provide transportation and removal; dredging; and installation services.
Leighton Offshore said in a statement that work on engineering, planning and procurement starts immediately.
The Pulau Bukom Manufacturing Site which houses facilities capable to refining up to 500,000 barrels per day of crude, is Shell’s largest refinery globally. The oil major also operates a naphtha-fed steam cracker, with a production capacity of 800,000 tonnes per annum of ethylene, at the same site. The cracker is Shell’s largest-ever petrochemicals investment and supports the company’s downstream petrochemical units such as its monoethylene glycol and benzene plants.
