Rosneft to Boost Energy Development in Russian Far East

Rosneft announced Friday that it has signed an agreement with the Ministry of the Development of the Russian Far East to cooperate on oil and gas activities in the region.

The agreement was signed by Rosneft President Igor Sechin and Russian Minister of Development of the Far East Viktor Ishayev. It highlighted the need for cooperation in the geological survey, exploration and production of oil and gas as a priority, given the regional economy's focus on natural resources and the importance for socio-economic development of the Far East's resource potential.

Rosneft said it will work with the Ministry to increase oil and gas production "by introducing the latest innovations and foremost technologies".

The partnership program, added Rosneft, places a special emphasis on improving energy efficiency, protecting the environment and making rational use of the Far East's natural resources.
