Saipem Announces Deals Worth $800M

Italy-based international oil services firm Saipem announced Thursday that it has made deals with Mexican and Australian customers worth a total value of more than $800 million.

Saipem said it has signed a new contract with Mexico's Transportadora de Gas Natural Norte-Noroeste to supply EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) services for a pipeline between El Encino, located in Chihuahua State, to Topolobampo in the Sinaloa State on the west coast of Mexico.

The gas pipeline will be 30 inches in diameter and some 430 miles long, and it will have two compressor stations installed along the route. It will also have a capacity of 670 million cubic feet of natural gas per day. Saipem expects to complete the project in the first quarter of 2016.

The deal in Australia will see Saipem increase the scope of its work on the Santos GLNG Gas Transmission Pipeline Project, which is currently under development in the state of Queensland. Saipem will carry out EPC work on an underwater segmental lining tunnel for the marine crossing of wetlands between the Gladstone State Development Area and Curtis Island.

This pipeline, with a diameter of 11.2 feet and 260 miles long, will supply coal seam natural gas to the LNG facility on Curtis Island. Saipem expects this work to be completed within 20 months.
