A new leak has been found at the North Sea's Osprey field, according to the UK's Department of Energy and Climate Change.
Fairfield stopped that leak on July 20 after isolating the P3 well from the Osprey system. But on Friday, DECC issued a statement saying that Fairfield Energy had found another ongoing small leak at one of the eight-inch oil flowlines downstream of the production manifold.
DECC said that although the line is depressurized, a small amount of oil bubbles is continuing to float to the sea surface.
Fairfield intends to flush the eight-inch test and production lines with seawater back to the Dublin installation. This should remove all oil from the pipelines, which in turn should stop the oil bubbles.
