The award is designed to recognize companies that emphasize safe, responsible operations through targeted safety training of personnel and the creation of operating procedures that ensure strict compliance with environmental and regulatory requirements. Baker received the award based on the company's operations activities on a pair of deepwater facilities.
The 2003 Houma District award is the latest recognition by the MMS of Baker's dedication to safety and compliance. In 1999, Baker received the New Orleans District Production Contractor SAFE Award and has since served as Operator on three deepwater facilities that have been awarded an MMS District SAFE Award in the past five years.
"We are very proud of this recognition from the MMS for our efforts to promote a safe environment for our people and our clients. A special thanks goes out to all of our personnel in the field who work hard every single day to maintain a safe and productive work place," said Rex Doyle, Baker Energy senior vice president of business development and operations.
