Chevron Awards Contract for Newbuild Drillship

Chevron U.S.A. has awarded a five-year contract valued at more than $1.07 billion for Pacific Drilling's Pacific Sharav (UDW drillship), which is under construction at Samsung Heavy Industries in South Korea.

Chevron will use the Pacific Sharav for its drilling operations in the Gulf of Mexico once the rig is delivered from Samsung in the fourth quarter of 2013.

Pacific Sharav will be capable of operating in up to 12,000 feet of water and drilling wells up to 40,000 feet deep.
