Rigzone and GE Oil & Gas' OTC 2012 Young Engineers' Event
As technology evolves and oil workers age, the oil and gas industry faces a significant transition. The "Great Crew Change," a shift in demographics as the "baby boom" generation nears retirement, poses a major challenge to preserving the industry's staffing resources and knowledge base. At this year's Offshore Technology Conference 2012 (OTC), GE Oil and Gas held a panel "Building the Talent Pool for Oil and Gas" for students interested in joining the industry.
Louise Goetz, Pressure Control & Executive leader for the Surface Engineering Team at GE Oil & Gas Drilling and Surface. Louise is responsible for leading the product and services requisition scope and new product development programs globally. She has 19 years of experience with GE in managing teams based in Aberdeen and Houston.
Vita Como, Executive Director of Engineering Career Professional Development for Cullen College of Engineering at the University of Houston. Vita works with students to prepare them for their professional lives after college as practicing engineers and/or graduate students.
Daniel Barnhart, Edison Engineering Program at GE. Daniel graduated from Georgia Tech with a B.A in Mechanical Engineering in 2010. Upon graduation, Daniel joined GE Oil & Gas as a participant in the Edison Engineering Development Leadership Program.
