US Expected to Approve Anadarko Nat Gas Project in Utah

WASHINGTON - U.S. officials are widely expected Tuesday to approve a proposal by Anadarko Petroleum Corp. to drill more than 3,500 natural gas wells in the Uintah Basin in Utah, people familiar with the situation said.

The announcement should be made by Interior Secretary Ken Salazar.

The project, known as the Greater Natural Buttes project, encompasses an area that is about 160,000 acres, according to Interior Department documents.
