Champion Technologies Launch Training Academy

Champion Technologies, a specialist provider of oilfield production chemicals, is to launch a new training academy in April in a bid to close the potential skills shortage the oil and gas industry is facing.

The launch of the training academy comes after a direct call from Champion Technologies' clients to help train new entrants to the industry desired standard, instilling skills that can be used throughout their future careers. The training is also an ideal opportunity for those who have gained more experience to top up their knowledge in specific areas.

The courses are open to the company's clients as well as oil and gas operators and service companies. Courses will continue to run throughout the year covering a range of topics.

A range of other courses will be available throughout the year focusing on areas such as corrosion, production chemistry, asphaltenes and gas hydrates, microbiology and phase separation. Each of the courses will be led by Champion employees, all of whom are global industry experts in their respective fields.

UK business manager, Neil Cousland at Champion Technologies said: "This is an exciting new initiative which is being launched after a direct call from the oil and gas industry. The skills shortage in this sector is incredibly topical at the moment and it is critical that action is taken now to combat this issue.

"Champion Technologies employs some of the most talented individuals in the field of chemical solutions and we are using this expertise to launch the new training academy, demonstrating our ongoing commitment to the long-term future of energy industry."

The training academy will commence with the first session looking at "Fundamentals of Scale and Scale Control" and will be led by Stephen Heath. Mr Heath has over 20 years' experience in the oil and gas industry and expertise in oil field scale treatments, formation damage, production chemistry and oil field chemical analysis, as well as developing a range of environmentally-friendly products. He has authored and co-authored over 45 papers as well as a number of patents.

Champion Technologies is a global speciality chemical company with over 3100 employees over 50 locations. It operates in more than 30 countries, delivering innovative and engineered programs for upstream, midstream and downstream oil and gas markets. Champion Technologies' integrated offering mixes sustainable chemistry, technology and service.

I think this is a Grand idea to educate individuals who have very little or no knowledge of what Oilfield chemicals role is in this industry, it is very technical and specialized. With questions being raised on the Fracing operation in the US I think this is crutial to educate people in doubt. I will be attending some of the classes to improve upon what I dont know.
