Canadian Superior Energy said that the pack ice north of Sable Island which had been approaching the well site area passed clear of the site to the west over night.

Mike Coolen, Canadian Superior's Director of East Coast Operations, said, "In spite of pack ice this close to Sable Island being a rare occurrence, we were well prepared for such an eventuality and all emergency procedures went extremely well. Everyone involved did a first-rate job. Personnel are mobilizing back to the Rowan Gorilla V drilling rig today and we expect to be back to normal operations within 48 hours."
