Kerr-McGee to Begin Production from CFD Fields this Year

Kerr-McGee said it will begin production from two offshore oil fields in China this year. "We will start production from the CFD 11-1 and CFD 11-2 fields at an initial rate of 15,000-20,000 barrels a day," said James J. Kleckner, vice president of Kerr-McGee China Petroleum Ltd., a unit of Kerr-McGee.

Production from the two fields, located in northern China's Bohai Sea, later will be raised to 45,000-50,000 b/d, he told Dow Jones Newswires on the sideline of the China Oil & Gas Development Forum in Shanghai.

Kerr-McGee discovered CFD 11-1 in November 1999 and CFD 11-2 in May 2001.
